The Grand Village Fete 2017
On 20th May, the annual Grand Village Fete was held on the playing fields in Brimscombe. Many local people and schools pitched in to help make the day a success, with Brimscombe manning the gate and taking on the all important barbecue.
Brimscombe children and parents took part in several of the competitions: the May Queen, the Knobbly Knees competition and the contest to see who could eat a doughnut the fastest without licking your lips! There was a special presentation to Liz Peters for her many years of dedication in organising the fete and serving her local community.
In the afternoon Mrs Oliver led children from Aquila class in an enthusiastic demonstration of country dancing, and the ever popular dog classes (including the competition for the waggiest tail and the dog most like its owner) saw success for Brimscombe parents, children and staff! The fete concluded with the traditional tug of war: Brimscombe vs Thrupp, and a great day was had by all.
