Cassiopeia meet private Howard Pegler

Today Cassiopeia took a rainy walk down the canal path to meet a real life WW1 soldier. In a quiet spot by one of the locks there is a memorial to Howard Pegler of Thrupp who was killed in Flanders on 30th October 1918, almost 100 years ago aged only 18. Local actor John took on the role of the young local soldier in complete WW1 uniform and was there to meet the children when they arrived. He told them about life in the trenches and the story of young Harold's life. A memorable experience and a fitting reminder of the terrible sacrifice of the first world war.
