The core functions of the Governing Bodyinclude, but are not limited to, ensuring:
* that the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined
* that the headteacher performs their responsibilities for the educational performance of the school.
* the sound, proper and effective use of the school's financial resources
Governors work with the headteacher to determine the strategic direction of the school, such as the identification of the school's vision and aims, the implementation of the National Curriculum, the monitoring of the budget, staffing and the accountability of the school to its stakeholders.
As a Voluntary Aided school, our Governing Body is currently made up of foundation governors, parent governors, LA governor and two staff governors, including the headteacher. Governors serve a four-year term.
The Governing Body of Brimscombe C of E VA Primary School was reconstituted in April 2015.
The Governors work across two committees: Education, Standards and Ethos and Facilities and Finance. Each committee monitors, supports and challenges the headteacher in each area, creating reports which are shared at a full Governors' meeting. Each committee meets six times a year and there are six full Governing body meetings a year.
Our Governors are all volunteers who give up their skills, experience and time for free in order to help and support our school.
Our Chair of Governors is Rod Harris and our Vice-Chair is Theresa Yates-Round.
Please feel free to stop any one of us with any questions you might have about the school or email us through admin@brimscombe.gloucs.sch.uk.
