School Lunches
Lunchtime is a sociable and enjoyable part of our school day!
Please note we are a nut free school. Please see below.
We have an hour for lunch at Brimscombe in two sittings. Children have the choice of a cooked meal or sandwiches from home.
Children in KS1 are entitled to a FREE hot meal each day as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme introduced in September 2014. Although for those families in receipt of certain tax credits and benefits there is an additional form that we would urge parents to complete as this particular funding goes direct to the school to benefit your child/children out of the Pupil Premium funding. This funding comes to the school and can continue for six years and be carried over to secondary schooling even if family situations change. It is all about the child. Cooked lunches are provided by The Great Plate and cooked on site. The Great Plate, part of the Long Table project provides delicious and nutritious hot meals every day. These are cooked on site by our wonderful cook. A main meal and desert costs £2.54 a day for years 3, 4, 5 & 6 which is paid for through the Parentpay system. Please use the links below to view the seasonal menu choices and the Parentpay website. Those families in receipt of certain tax credits and benefits can apply for free school meals via this link Apply for free school meals | Gloucestershire County Council
Each day the children have a choice of two main courses which are selected as part of morning registration. Meals are ordered each day and you can choose daily whether your child will have a school meal or packed lunch. (If you know your child will be late to school, please call and book your meal).
At lunchtime, the children sit in classes in two sittings. Two classes eat first, whilst the others play on the field, playground or orchard. After half an hour the classes switch. This set up creates provides a quieter calmer hall and allows much more space on the playground.
Those children who prefer to bring sandwiches are encouraged to bring a healthy combination of food; sandwiches, pasta, salad, yoghurts and fruit rather than chocolate or crisps. All children keep a re-useable water bottle in school to use throughout the day.
